Dealing with anxiety can be incredibly difficult. Excessive and intrusive thoughts, rumination and focusing on “what ifs” can all contribute towards anxiety. We might feel alone in our anxiety and fearful of speaking about it with others. But anxiety is incredibly common.
Here are 3 signs that you’re dealing with anxiety:
𝟏. 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬
We can all have restless nights but sometimes this can become excessive and even wake ourselves up with anxiety and worry. We can struggle with getting back to sleep and suffer from panic and worry.
𝟐. 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡
Physical signs of anxiety such as tightness in your chest, a racing heart, shortness of breath and tingling in your hands and arms can all be incredibly frightening. The more we focus on these sensations, the worse they feel, increasing anxiety.
𝟑. 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞
Withdrawing from others and being fearful of social situations are common when feeling on edge. We can cancel plans, avoid calls etc. When we isolate ourselves, we can feel even more on edge.
If you have experienced any of these feelings, remember that you are not alone. Anxiety is incredibly common. I understand that it can sometimes feel hopeless but I promise you that you can overcome its grip on you.
I want to help you and support you through this journey. Let’s work together to understand your anxiety, your triggers and how it manifests for you. From there we can build a toolkit that is personalised to you and your anxiety. This will help you in those moments when you feel overwhelmed and ground you so that anxiety doesn’t take over.
