Save SOSAD @sosadireland.ie
SOSAD is a wonderful organisation providing free counselling to anyone who needs it.
They are currently in financial trouble and they need our help.
SOSAD currently sees 700 people a week. 700 people who need this vital service. 700 people who have nowhere else to go.
We know that the mental health service in this country is broken and people who are desperate for support are often left without help. But they can find the therapy and care they need in SOSAD.
I spent time volunteering as a counsellor in SOSAD. I saw people in need of emergency appointments who were able to meet with a counsellor that same day.
I saw people in pain with nowhere else to go, be heard, find support and work with a therapist.
I saw lives saved and changed.
Please help in whatever way you can. Time is running out and we cannot let SOSAD close.

Iโm a therapist and yesterday ๐ ๐ด๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ๐ด ๐ค๐ณ๐บ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ข๐ต ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ด๐ถ๐ง๐ง๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ญ๐ฅ. I cried because of right denying policies and views. I cried because of hate. I cried because of gen*cide. I cried because of animal torment. I cried because I saw a video of a blind man suffering. I had to take time away from work because I was so overcome with tears, sadness and general despair. โฃ

Weโre taught from an early age to ๐ต๐ฐ๐ถ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐ถ๐ฑ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ค๐ณ๐บ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ช๐ด ๐ข ๐ด๐ช๐จ๐ฏ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ธ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด๐ด. And if youโre going to cry, for godโs sake donโt let anyone know about it. โฃ

๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐ก๐ฒ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ฌ, ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐๐๐ค๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ฌ. Crying is not a weakness. You are crying because you care deeply, because you want better for the world, because you are sensitive to suffering and because you are full of consideration.

Iโve heard remarks before that a therapist shouldnโt be overwhelmed by sadness. There seems to be a belief that feeling anxious, stressed, scared, sad etc. makes us bad at our jobs. But thatโs not true.
